Quiz Time. What happened in 1492?

OK how many answered "Columbus sailed the Ocean Blue"? That's not the answer, sorry.
How many answered "Ferdinand and Isabella beat the Moors" Closer but not quite there.

In 1492 - As Columbus was leaving the port in his three ships, another ship was leaving. It was a ship full of Jews who were being kicked out of Spain. Apparently, since George Bush wasn't around yet, They fell back on their favorite scapegoat - the Jews. The Jews were thrown out of Spain, enabling Spain to claim that they were no longer anti-semitic.

The current Prime Minister of Spain, Mr. Zapatero is a kind and feeling person. He understands why the Nazi's hated the Jews.

Zapatero was explaining his lack of surprise about the Holocaust: according to
the people present, Zapatero claimed to understand the Nazis.

He wants peace in the world. Didn't he pull the Spanish forces out of Iraq? He wants to understand both sides. In case you don't know the man, his picture is posted. Notice the stylish scarf? It's called a kaffiyah. This is the shmata (yiddish for rag) that always crowned the head of that other famous fighter for human rights, Yasser Arafat.

But when accused of being an anti-semite for wearinyg the Kaffiyah, the reply was that if he were at the Western Wall, he'd wear a Kippah (yarmulka). It's just a question of style.
