Can you say Anachronism?

To quote the US Constitution:

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person
holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State.


George Washington insured his membership in the American Pantheon when he forcefully refused the crown after the Revolution - twice. Or another phrase from the Declaration of Independence this time.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness


I am fascinated by the clamor over the Queen of England. Americans are being lectured on the correct way to behave in front of her. We are being coached on how to react to a Royal. How about teaching her to be respectful to the people who have insured that, unlike The King Georges, they still speak English, not German.

Yet here in America - we seem to be in Royalty-Withdrawal. We have anointed our own royalty (lower case on purpose) - We had the Kennedy's, luckily Teddy destroyed that image, we have the Hollywood glitzeraty.

If we want royalty - how about the people who came here in the holds of slave ships or steerage class from Europe (To escape royals). How about the Americans, both Irish and Chinese who built the railroads. How about the millions who get up each day and go to work. That is the royalty that kept Europe free.

We are Americans. We recognize the ability of the individual to climb the ladder of success based on his or her own merits.

The Royal Family is an anachronism that does little more than drain national treasuries. Perhaps the French had the right Idea? (jokingly said)
